  1. I'm not sure if this is working right or not. I should be the curator of this blog

  6. As I continue to grow in my knowledge of hormone optimization and correction, it appears that the pellet therapy is the best way to go. Pellets give you a steady release of sex hormones so that you don't experience the normal highs and lows of injections or gels. Of course, sex hormone replacement is just a small part of age management.

  7. Unfortunately, insurance companies believe that I should absorb all costs and don't reimburse me for medications enough to cover the medicine. If you are interested in injections I can send you to the pharmacy to pick up the medicine yourself or we charge a nominal $10 fee per injection to cover medicine costs. You are certainly welcome to have us store your medicine here at the office for your convenience. Fortunately, you only have to come by once a week for your injections.

  8. Apparently subclinical hypothyroidism is common. Most doctors simeply order a TSh; and, if it falls in the lab range they say you don't have low thyroid. Frankly, as a screening tool the TSH is worthless. And, many studies have shown that a TSH above 2 is trouble. That is still in the "normal range". I, actually, think your TSH should be between 0.4-1.0. However, the Tsh doesn' really give you much information. The active hormones are t4 and t3, and you should have a reverse t3 done as well. Thyroid antibodies are helpful as well. Having all the information will help to make a comprehensive plan for your thyroid.

  9. Right now I am running a special on pellet therapy for men (at $595) and women ($395). For those of you familiar with sex hormone pellet therapy; you know that's a deal. I want to try to make it affordable to patient's as insurance companies are reticent to pay for this optimal treatment of testosterone and estrogen deficiencies. I am more than glad to give you insurance forms to file to see if you can get reimbursed. Frankly, you will have more luck with that than I will.

  10. For those who are serious about age management and preventative medicine, I suggest that you start the Paleolithic diet. I have a program here that will help you do that. 913.498.9191

  11. I am contemplating setting up satellite offices in Lenexa, Lee's Summit and KCK. I want to be able to reach out to those who want one-on-one obstetrical and gynecologic care. Currently, I deliver at OP and SLS, but plan on getting privileges at the new birthing center at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. I will be starting office hours in Lee's Summit on Mondays at Body Renew Medical where I am the Medical Director.

  13. Remember that lab values are just a range of the people that visit that lab. The lab establishes a range based on that; take the average and then go 2 standard deviations off the mean. What many physician's consider normal is usually not optimal

  16. Remember, it's not necessarily how much you weigh; it's your body fat percentage. Men let's get it down to 15% and ladies let's get it down to 20%.

    1. Men, measure around your abdomen at the level of your belly button. Beware if that number is 40 or over. And, no you cannot pull it tight like a girdle.
      Women, it's the hips

  17. The biggest obstacle is diet. You must switch to a low glycemic index diet, preferably also low in fat. We can help with anorectics or the hcg diet but it's up to you to make the diet switch.

  18. Things that are in motion; tend to stay in motion. Yes, that means exercise too - everyday. Trust me; I'm preaching to myself as well. The point is to age well and be free of debilitating disease. What good does it do to live to be 90 if your incapacitated.

  19. By the way, you need nutraceuticals and hormone optimization to reach that healthy lifestyle and to minimize disease. And, that includes more than sex steroids.
